Carley Fortune is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Every Summer After, One Golden Summer, This Summer Will Be Different and Meet Me at the Lake.

Her books have sold more than four million copies, have been translated into 35 languages across more than 100 territories, and adapted for television. Her fifth novel, Our Perfect Storm, will be published May 5, 2026.

The first season of Every Year After, the Prime Video series based on her novel Every Summer After, premiers on June 10, 2026. This Summer Will Be Different is currently in production and will stream on Netflix as a ten-episode series. Carley is an Executive Producer on both projects. 

Before becoming a novelist, Carley was an award-winning journalist and editor at some of Canada’s leading publications, including The Globe and Mail, Chatelaine, and Toronto Life. She oversaw the launch of Refinery29 Canada before leaving journalism to write fiction full-time in 2021.

Carley spent her young life in the suburbs of Sydney, Australia, and Barry’s Bay, a tiny lakeside town in rural Ontario and the setting of Every Summer After and One Golden Summer. A love of nature and a strong sense of place are integral to her storytelling.

Carley lives in Toronto with her husband and two sons and is currently writing her sixth novel.
