Carley Fortune is the number one New York Times bestselling author of Every Summer After,One Golden Summer, This Summer Will Be Different, and Meet Me at the Lake. Her books have sold more than four-million copies worldwide, have been translated into 30 languages in over 50 territories, and adapted for television. Her fifth novel, Our Perfect Storm, comes out May 5, 2026.
Every Year After, the series based on Every Summer After, will premiere June 10 on Prime Video. This Summer Will Be Different is currently being adapted as a Netflix series.
Carley is an award-winning journalist and worked as an editor at some of Canada’s top publications, including The Globe and Mail, Chatelaine, and Toronto Life. She oversaw the launch of Refinery29 Canada and led the team as its Executive Editor until she left journalism to write fiction in 2021. Carley holds a Bachelor of Journalism from Toronto Metropolitan University.
Carley spent her young life in the suburbs of Sydney, Australia, and in Barry’s Bay, a tiny lakeside town in rural Ontario and the setting for both Every Summer After and One Golden Summer. A love of nature and sense of place are integral to her storytelling.
Carley lives in Toronto with her husband and two sons and is currently working on her sixth book.
